Everything you wanted to know about pricing

Clear answers on balance, billing, upgrades, and what happens when you run out.

How representative is the data? What's the accuracy?
Our pattern-matching algorithm runs at 86–95% accuracy depending on the pattern type and sample size. Concrete patterns — pain points, explicit objections, product mentions — sit at the top of that range. Subtler patterns like narrative structures and emotional tones land a few points lower. Accuracy also improves with sample size: a run over 5,000 mentions is measurably more representative than one over 500. Every pattern is backed by sampled mentions you can click through, so the evidence is always auditable.

What does an action cost?
Every plan gives you a monthly balance in dollars — $50 on Starter, $150 on Pro, $350 on Business — and every action debits it at your plan's rate. One mention retrieved, analyzed, and scored across any source is $0.02 on Starter, $0.015 on Pro, and $0.007 on Business: the higher the plan, the less each action costs. An audience profile is three times a mention; a post analyzed for a custom parameter is half. Audience-research runs are billed per mention returned, not per query — so you only pay for data that makes it into your results.

What happens when I run out of balance?
Listening agents and dashboards keep running; new research jobs pause until you top up or your balance resets at the next billing cycle. You can top up any time, any amount from $5 up — $1 buys $1 of balance. Topped-up dollars buy actions at your plan's rate, exactly like the rest of your balance.

Does unused balance roll over?
No — your balance resets each billing period. We designed plans so the included balance covers sustained use rather than stockpiling. If you consistently leave a big buffer, you're probably on the wrong plan and we'll happily help you downsize.

What's the difference between monthly and yearly?
Yearly saves roughly 20% across the board and is billed up-front once a year. You pay less and get exactly the same: your monthly balance and your per-action prices are identical either way — yearly Business is $250 / month and still refills $350 of balance every month, at the same $0.007 per mention. Monthly is pay-as-you-go with no commitment — cancel any time from the billing page and you'll retain access through the end of the current period.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, or change plans mid-cycle?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with a prorated charge for the remainder of the period, and we top up your balance to match the new plan. Downgrades apply at the start of your next billing cycle so you don't lose balance you've already paid for.

Is there a free trial?
Yes — enough balance for 500 mentions, to spend over a day. If you don't convert we'll gracefully downgrade you to a read-only view so your dashboards don't disappear.

Which sources can I actually listen to?
All paid plans include Reddit, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Instagram. Enterprise customers can add private channels — review sites, forums, Discord servers, customer call transcripts, and more — via our data ingestion team.

What's the difference between Pro and Business?
Business unlocks unlimited projects and listening agents and gets you API access. It's the plan most agencies and in-house research teams land on once they're running more than a handful of concurrent briefs.

Do you offer a non-profit or academic discount?
Yes — 30% off any paid plan for verified non-profits and academic institutions. Write to us at hello@buzzabout with your institution email and we'll get you set up.

What's included in Enterprise?
Everything in Business plus custom sources, custom listening agents, a dedicated customer success manager, SSO / SCIM, a security review pack (SOC 2 report, DPA, sub-processor list), custom contract terms, and invoicing in your preferred currency.

Is my data private & secure?
Yes. Your projects, lists, and custom agents are never used to train our models or shared across workspaces. We're SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant, with data stored in EU or US regions at your choice.

What kind of support do I get?
